When highland roads open and what vehicle is needed
F-roads are for 4x4 vehicles only. Driving a 2WD on an F-road is illegal and voids your insurance. Roads don't open until June–July.
F35 (Kjölur)

Note: Difficult, river crossings, remote
F88 (Askja)
Open: June–Sept

Open: June–Sept

Note: Connects south coast and Skaftafell
F910 (Axarfjörður)

Note: Connects northeast
