How to read Icelandic forecasts
- •Wind speed matters more than temperature. Above 15 m/s everything changes.
- •Wind arrows on vedur.is show direction and strength. Red arrows = danger.
- •Color warnings: yellow = caution, orange = dangerous, red = life-threatening.
- •Check the forecast the night before and the morning — weather changes fast.
- •"Icelandic weather" — if you don't like it, wait five minutes.
Wind gusts can be dangerous. Above 20 m/s there is risk of cars being blown off the road. Always check Met Office weather warnings before setting out.
