Short answer
The Ring Road (Route 1) is 1,332 km. With 7 days you get a solid overview — waterfalls, glaciers, volcanoes and coast — without too much driving. Add 2-3 days if you want longer stops or to include the Westfjords.
Driving times are approximate and based on paved roads in summer. In winter, driving can be 30-50% slower due to snow and ice. Always check road conditions before you drive.

| 3 | Vík → Skaftafell → Jökulsárlón → Höfn | 270 km · 3.5 hrs | Höfn |

| 7 | Blönduós → Borgarnes → Reykjavík | 260 km · 3 hrs | Reykjavík |
Reykjavík → Þingvellir → Geysir → Gullfoss
The Golden Circle — Viking parliament, geyser and a two-tier waterfall. A good first day near Reykjavík.
Flúðir → Seljalandsfoss → Skógafoss → Reynisfjara → Vík
The South Coast — the densest concentration of sights in Iceland. Caution at Reynisfjara: stay 30 m from the sea, sneaker waves are deadly.
Vík → Skaftafell → Jökulsárlón → Höfn
Jökulsárlón iceberg lagoon with seals and Diamond Beach. A short hike in Skaftafell to see Svartifoss.
Höfn → Egilsstaðir → Stuðlagil → Mývatn
The longest driving day. Stuðlagil canyon is a short detour but worth it. Arrive at Mývatn by evening.
Mývatn → Dettifoss → Ásbyrgi → Húsavík
Dettifoss is the most powerful waterfall in Europe — the west side access is better. Húsavík is the whale watching capital.
Húsavík → Akureyri → Hofsós → Blönduós
The Hofsós pool is free with fjord views. Akureyri is a good stop for coffee and food.
Blönduós → Borgarnes → Reykjavík
The drive home through West Iceland. Borgarnes is a good final stop for coffee at the Settlement Center.

Frequently asked questions
Is 7 days enough for the Ring Road?
Yes, for a solid overview. But you will not stop long each time. Add 2-3 days if you want hikes, ice caves or the Westfjords.
What car do I need?
A regular 2WD is fine in summer. In winter or for the highlands, choose a 4×4. Check driving safety before you book.
