Glacier Hiking Tours in Iceland
Walk on a glacier with crampons and a guide — from Sólheimajökull to Vatnajökull.
Choose your tour
A glacier is not a snowfield: crevasses, moulins and movement mean you should never walk on one without a guide and gear. Every tour here includes a certified glacier guide, crampons and safety equipment; no previous experience is needed.
Sólheimajökull Glacier Walk
An easy 2–3 hour walk on Sólheimajökull, close to the South Coast. A good first glacier for families and anyone who has never worn crampons.
Vatnajökull Full-Day Glacier Hike
A longer walk on Europe’s largest glacier from Skaftafell, going further onto the ice to see crevasses and ice formations.
Glacier Hike and Ice Cave
A winter tour combining a walk on the ice with a visit inside an ice cave — two of the country’s best experiences in one trip.

Before you book
- Stiff-soled hiking boots are required; trainers do not work with crampons.
- It is colder on the ice than in the valley — take gloves and a hat even in July.
- Never step outside the guide’s route on the glacier; crevasses are often invisible until it is too late.
